Sexually transmitted diseases are the most common transferable diseases today. There are more than 20 different types of STD’s that had been identified. These viruses can be transferred through sexual activity that involves sex organs or the mouth. It could sometimes be transmitted through blood contact either during sexual activity, using an infected IV drug needles, and even trough childbirth or breastfeeding.
Almost anyone can get infected especially since many people today are sexually active and are having multiple partners. It affects anyone, irregardless of your age and background. If left untreated, STDs can cause a serious damage to your reproductive system and even death. Although there are medications to treat its symptoms, severe cases of this disease do not have any cure.
The following are the most common STDs and its symptoms: Chlamydia – unwanted secretion of fluids from the sex organs, will experience a burning sensation when urinating, ectopic pregnancy and infertility among women; Genital Herps – habitual outbreaks of sore blisters on the genital area; Gonorrhea – same symptoms as that of Chlamydia; Syphilis – rash, fever, headache, painful joints, genital ulcer; HIV/AIDS – fatigue, night sweats, chills or fever that lasts for several weeks, cough, headaches, and after 2-3 of infection it will lead to death; Genital warts – small, painless bumps that looks like a cauliflower in the genital or anal areas; Pubic lice – tiny insects that lives in the pubic hair, itchy in the pubic area; Scabies – symptoms almost the same as pubic lice.

There are STDs that are diagnosed without the need to do some tests while other STDs requires a blood sample or a sample of any unusual fluid to determine the type of disease. Don’t let the infection worsen or else it might be difficult to cure. Secondly, once you learn that you have this disease inform your sexual partner about it in order to prevent the bacteria from spreading.
Treatment of these diseases differs depending on its type. There are some that involves taking up of antibiotic prescription thru injection or oral. On the other hand, some STDs require the patient to apply bacterial creams on the infected area. Patients with herpes or HIV cannot be treated only controlled.
Here are the following tips in preventing the spread of this fast growing disease: a) refrain from having multiple partners; b) if diagnosed, refrain from any sexual contact until fully treated; c) medical experts recommend the use of condoms at all times. Though proven not to be 100% effective, its better safe than sorry; d) have a habitual medical checkups; e) refrain from sexual intercourse during menstruation because HIV is passed on easily at this time; f) avoid douching for it eliminates the natural protection in the female genital area.
