Hypoglycemia (Low Blood Sugar)




It necessary to have stabilized blood sugar levels in the body; tending towards the extremes would mean danger signal to the body. Hypoglycemia is a rarely spoken about condition in which the body is said to have low blood sugar levels. This condition has always mostly been ignored because it is not as common as the problems mostly caused by high blood sugar levels. Nevertheless, the two are very serious medical conditions that require treatment immediately they are diagnosed.

Normal blood sugar levels are between 70 and 150mg, and decrease in these that are below 70 means that one is having low blood sugar levels. One of the most common symptoms of hypoglycemia is the feeling of dizziness, shaking of the body pale skin and grayish in color, feeling of tiredness, moodiness, etc. In some cases, too little glucose in the body can lead to unconsciousness. It is very important immediate medical attention in case of such symptoms.

A hormone known as hormone cortisol is usually released causing a problem in the body. This hormone usually increases the body’s ability to break down fat. More fat is stored in the process. This hormone can also destroy brain cells. Eat a balanced diet to countercheck such problems in order to balance sugar levels in the body.

Hypoglycemia can affect people of all ages. Lifestyles are changing everyday, meaning that people have less time on their hands. More and more rely on fast foods while others skip meals in order to beat deadlines without knowing how this may affect their health. More people are taking alcohol compared to food; they spend most of the time working with little rest. The result is that little glucose is available for bodily functions hence sooner or later the body is depleted of these sugars. If you feel hungry, do not ignore the signs.

The more serious factors that can cause this problem are medical in nature. Too much intake of insulin in the body is usually harmful. Insulin uses up all the glucose in the body. Cancers and other congenital and liver diseases are some of those that can cause insulin production in the body to be reduced. It is therefore important to treat these diseases early enough before they can lead to more serious condition.

There are several things that one can do to enable them beat this condition, one of them being to avoid eating fast foods because of lack of time. Your health is more important than any other duty. Eat fruits and vegetables to increase glucose levels in the body. Eat refined foods that have the good sugar necessary for bodily functions. For instance, it is better to eat salads and not potato chips which are also high in cholesterol. Avoid eating a lot of cheese or bacon because dieting is the only way to prevent low blood sugar level.

For breakfast, it is better to take fresh juices but completely avoid sandwiches that have bacon or sausages.
