Headache




What is headache?
A headache is the most common illness in the world and is experienced by most of  people.It is the pain that affects in the upper part above the upper neck and the upper part of the eyes and ears or more precisely, a part of forehead.

Physicians generally classify headaches into two main categories namely primary headache and secondary headache. The first type is totally unrelated to other diseases like tension headache, cluster headache or migraine. However, the secondary headache is in some way or other, related to minor or major diseases like blood clot, head injury, meningitis, high blood pressure and many more conditions. Stress and anxiety are often associated with headaches and tension type headaches are more common in women than in men. More often than not, tension related headaches can easily be cured through over the counter medicines and avoiding their triggers, whereas the other type needs medical attention.

Symptoms
The normal symptoms of headache are pain that produces a sense of pressure or tightness around the head, general depression, ache in the forehead and eyes. At times, blurring of vision and a sense of confusion may also occur.

Causes of headache
Most of the headaches are caused due to emotional stress, depression or tension. Strain to the eyes or allergies are other causes. Those who have high or low blood pressure or fluctuating levels of sugar, may also experience headaches. Other external factors that contribute to headache are changes in climate, constipation, nutrition deficiency and chronic cough. Migraines headache which are also very common can cause nausea, vomiting and altered vision tiredness and moodiness occur even before 12 hours the headache approaches.

Treatment
Most of the headaches can be prevented through stress- free life and needs no medicine. If the cause of the headache is known and if the problems are avoided, headache can be easily avoided. Persisting headaches for one or two days can be treated with over- the- counter medicines like aspirin, Para- acetamol, and ibuprofen and so on, but some serious ailments that trigger headache have to be dealt with seriously.

There are other types of treatments like acupuncture, massage therapy, hypnosis and so on. Aromatherapy is a treatment that has been practiced for centuries and helps in curing headaches. A number of home remedies are also available to cure headaches that are not chronic and reoccurring. For instance, tension headaches can be cured by having a good relaxation and a hot bath or a cold bath. Slow and deep breathing also helps to alleviate headaches. When the headache is due to addiction to certain substances like caffeine, it can be cured by avoiding the addictive substance for about a week. Aromatherapy is another form of pain relieving strategy.

Headache is one such common ailment that can be cured or avoided by making some slight alterations in the way of life, exercises, making slight modifications in the food habits and so on. Therefore, avoid headaches that can be avoided and treat them which cannot be avoided.
