Gout

Gout is a health condition that resembles arthritis. It causes pain and makes the areas attacked look red. A person, who suffers from gout, feels great pain when the attacks occur. The joints become tender which makes the color. In most cases, gout attacks occur when there is a high level of uric acid in the body. The food that you take can increase uric acid in your body. You should follow a healthy diet to avoid the painful attacks.

Foods that are high in purine can be bad for you. You should avoid them because they increase uric acids levels in your body. They can trigger a gout attack and cause inflammation. The purine contents are found in liver, kidney and other organ meats. You should also avoid sweet breads like anchovies and mackerel which also increase the levels of uric acid in your body.

When you eat any kind of meat, try to consume as little as you can. All meats contain purines, which is not healthy for you. You can try dairy products as options for healthy proteins.

There are also other foods that you should avoid; these are the ones that have some contents of uric acid. It is better you take them in small amounts as they may be important in some way. These include wholegrain bread, eel and mushrooms. This will ensure that you stay free of gout attacks which can be very painful.

The body excretes the uric acid from it when you take lots of fluids. However, some drinks are not safe for you to take when you have gout attacks. Some soft drinks have lots of sugar which can limit the removal of uric acid from your body. Try to drink clean water instead of soft drinks.

You should avoid a poor diet and try to watch what you eat as a way of preventing gout. Fast foods can be tempting but you have to think about the consequences. Including juices like cherry, salmon strawberries, and olive oil can also be good as they help lower uric acid in your body.

You should check out for any signs of gout. The attacks happen mostly at night and the pain is acute.

You can watch out for these signs

1. Intense pain in joints: Gout attacks occur in your joints and the big toe’s joint is the most common. It can be in other joints like the ankle, wrists and knees. Within the first twelve hours after the attack, you are likely to experience great pain. If you have such an attack, you should suspect gout first and start doing something to reduce uric acid in your body.
2. Joint discomfort: The pain can go away when the uric acid is excreted from your body. Some body joints remain uncomfortable for the next few weeks. You may also get painful attacks which will not go away; this is a sign of gout and you must do something to reduce the pain.
3. Redness: If the painful joints look inflamed or swollen, this means you have gout.

You should not let gout go untreated. This can damage your joints permanently. Make sure that you see a doctor.
