Eye strain




Eye strain can occur due to a number of causes. Reading too much or working on a computer can strain your visual strength. Signs of eye strain are different. You may get blurred visions, irritated eyes or headaches. You can get rod of eye strain at home or ask your doctor to help you.

Here are some steps to help you cure an eye strain:

• If you have eye strain signs, make sure you give yourself a break every thirty minutes. This gives your eye muscles a chance to relax. Looking at other things helps you lot and also relaxes your mind as well as your eyes. If you have severe signs of eye strain, you can take a break after every ten to twenty minutes.
• You can shut your eyes for some time or try to look at something which is far from where you are. This makes your eyes feel better and the eye strain can be relieved.
• Make sure that you read with proper lighting. This helps your eyes and you do not have to strain to see whatever you are reading. Overworking your eye muscles can cause eye strain.
• You can put damp teabags under your eyes for sometime to relive the eye strain. It is also a good way to end a headache caused by eyestrain.
• Clean your glasses regularly to avoid strains. Glasses with smudges can cause eye strain as you can not see clearly. Also do not buy glasses that have reflections and glare; they can increase eye strain.
• You should see a doctor for proper tests. The doctor can treat any other eye disorders that can cause blindness if not attended to like glaucoma.

The most common cause of eye strain is glare. It can either be direct or indirect and this happens when light shines to your eyes or shines onto a surface that you are working on. Here are some tips to help you eliminate a glare that gives you eye strain.

• Make sure that your computer is placed perpendicular to the window. This ensures that light does not hit your screen or eyes.
• You can use heavy curtains to block natural light that cause eye strain to you.
• You should remove any light that shines into eyes
• Make sure that the overheads lights are dim.
• The flat panel monitors can help avoid glare.
• Make sure that your monitor faces away from the natural light.
• You can have your windows tinted to keep the shiny light away.
• You can also put antiglare screen on your computer which helps you avoid eye strain related problems.
• Polarized glass can be used to avoid glare.

Do not let glare be part of your life. Most people think that you can prevent it. This leads to eye strain which in turn gives vision problems. This can be a big problem which you can prevent by following simple steps; better prevention than cure.
