People who have the herpes simplex virus type 1 will be ones who can be prone to developing bothersome blisters along one’s lips. These blisters are known as cold sores or fever blisters. These are unsightly and embarrassing but they can be treated properly. Some things for preventing them from occurring as often can also be done.
This type of blister will appear along one’s lip and can create a red mark around the area with a slight bump along it. In many cases many of these sores can be paired together in the same area. Over time they will manifest themselves along the lips and eventually swell up to where they will be more noticeable. The blisters in this red area can end up bursting and leaking fluid after a period of time. When this is done scabs will appear and eventually go away over time.
The length of time that one of these cold sores or fever blisters can last for will vary. In some cases a sore can last for four to five days while in other cases they can go on for as long as two weeks.
In addition to these sores pains around the mouth can occur. A sore throat and swelling around the neck can also occur during an outbreak.
The herpes simplex virus type 1 is the main reason as to why this condition occurs. A person can get this virus through close oral contact with a person who has it. If a person shares food or other oral materials with that person then the condition can be spread. As a person has HSV-1 the sores can end up breaking out due to infections in the body or from stress that can cause the body’s natural system to become weak.
Over time the virus will end up remaining dormant and will not manifest itself at various. However there is always the risk that the virus will end up popping up again later on. However itching in an area can be experienced right before a second instance of the case or so on occurs.
There are a few things that should be done for preventing cold sores. While avoiding close contact with materials that have been orally handled by someone with HSV-1 is the best thing to do if a person does have the virus it will help to avoid stressful situations so that sore will be less likely to occur. It is also best to use lip balm on one’s lips and sunscreen on the face. This comes from how they can work to protect the face from the sun. This is especially important because of how blisters can begin to appear in cases where too much sunlight has impacted the face.
Finally, while these blisters can go away over time some treatments can be used. A topical material like Lidocaine can work to help with stopping pains. Antiviral medicines that can be prescribed to a person can also work to help reduce the intensity of blisters as they are developing.
